The horrors of south Sudan conflict.

Displaced persons from Bor take refuge under trees
The horrors of south Sudan conflict.

By Mogga Emmanuel Benaih.
Innocent civilians are dying and getting killed in their thousands,
others are displaced, set to settle in unfavorable conditions or
forced to become refugees
Women and children suffer the burden most going without food, water
and basic services
Just because somebody needs power or wants to retain power
Yet they even neither have their children nor close relatives settling
in the country. By the fact that they would not be directly affected
by losing one of their closest person
They are here shamelessly commanding their army to carryout operations
that results to thousands of deaths, injuries, displacements and
seeking for safety abroad.
Both sides are proud to tell the number of fighters they have killed
from the other side without fear; to them it is a pride to kill a good
number of the rebels or the government soldiers
Whatever it might be the reason the fact remains you have and is
killing south Sudanese
The conflict has gone to its pick and the parties seem to just be
buying time in the Ethiopian capital
It has only been their ambition to ink agreements on papers but not
daring to commit to respecting the agreement as it has been the
culture of the whole Sudan since then to only agree on paper and be
practicing a different thing
History has taught us this very well that agreements in Sudan are just
agreed on soon to be disagreed.
Now it must not be a surprise to see the IGAD brokered talks yield no
fruits as seen through the reluctance of the two parties and the
visible lack of commitment and pressure geared towards a quick
solution to the problem
All the two parties were aware long time that one day such disgruntles
would emerge within the now dying SPLM party
But the fact that they failed to deeply find a peaceful and concrete
solution to the problem before it escalated shows the party's
inability to handle and manage its affairs.
What happened on Dec 15 last year was just a spark off but rather the
SPLM as a party was in this state of wrangles a long time ago and this
is one reason why the whole country is messed up.
Days, weeks months are passing and not a single respectable solution
has been reached by the talks in Adis yet the innocent civilians
continue to chew the bitter fruits of the actions of the heartless
leaders
The cry of the suffering south Sudanese are being heard all over the
world the question remains for how long are the innocent citizens of
this new nation going to continue being killed, displaced exiled,
tortured and marginalized by the disgruntled heartless politicians.
The destruction caused and the lives lost cannot be regained and yet
by the end of the day as usually it has been the tradition in south
Sudan the perpetrators would go free and instead be offered big
government position to squander further the country's resources
We have seen several renegades and government officials committing
crimes of several kind but none of them have been made to face the
law.
It is never in the mind of a sensible man to see his people die and
not take a stand to agree on peaceful solution
Citizens are going hungry without food eating tree leaves and trunks;
women are giving birth to children in the bushes without medical
attention, children are going without education, all the government
attention and resources are being geared towards the conflict and not
services
What a curse on this new nation after overwhelming voting for
separation with the hope of enjoying freedom, liberty, dignity and
basic services
The voters have been made to truly regret their decision by being
inflicted pain by their same brothers
It would have been better had it to be the known enemies doing such
evils, there would be a space to tolerate such acts. But after having
fought to set ourselves free from such actions of killings, again it
is us turning the sword to kill ourselves
It's a pity in my heart to see death bodies of innocent civilians
lying in Juba, Bor, Malakal and other towns of south Sudan
Bodies of innocent citizens of this country being enjoyed by vultures
flying in the skies of Bor and Malakal just killed for no reason they
have ended up being buried in massive graves or just decomposing in
the bushes
It is upon the leaders and other concern bodies to see into it that
all this comes to an end. Otherwise what can an ordinary citizen down
in the rural areas have to say or do to stop the conflict, what can
the old, young, disabled  etc do other than just wait to be killed,
displaced or exiled
South Sudanese are tired of living as 2nd class citizens or as
refugees and now again the same people who claim to have stood against
such are doing the worst
This makes one to be tempted to ask if these people are in their right
sense otherwise nobody in his/her right senses would fight to retain
or gain power through lost of lives and displacement of the same
people he /she dares to lead.
It is my wish that those been mobilize and influence to fight give up
so as to bring the whole scene to an end because it is left to the
hands of the so called politicians they would never think to do so
unless their individual and personal interest are met.
